Impacts of Traffic Management 2014

Knowledge about the impacts of traffic management is useful and necessary, both for policy making as for the operations in a traffic control centre. For example on a strategic level this knowledge is used to consider and assess investment alternatives and on an operational level it is used to tune and improve traffic control scenarios. In The Netherlands a lot of attention has been paid to the evaluation of traffic management measures. Since 2008 an overview exists in which the results of all evaluation studies in The Netherlands are summarised. Recently TrafficQuest has updated this summary with the latest studies and now 180 studies are included. These studies are referenced in this list and the results are given in this overview (in Dutch).
Organisation of Traffic Management![]() Workshop Urban Traffic Management![]() On July 2nd, 2014 TrafficQuest organised a workshop in which representatives from municipalities, joint ventures and knowledge institutes participated and discussed together about urban trends and the role of traffic management now and in the future. Topic of discussion were the characteristics of urban traffic and urban mobility. What is so special about urban traffic, why is it so complex and what are the differences with motorway traffic? From this starting point several issues were raised that are typical for the current situation as well as the expected developments. These issues were clustered into social-urban problems, urban trends, technological trends and problems that appear when solutions are implemented. Verkeer in Nederland 2014
