Dynamic Traffic Management Amsterdam
In recent years experiments have been conducted within the Pratical Trial Traffic Management Amsterdam with connecting and coordinating road sides systems and with the interaction with individual vehicles. Amsterdam has always been on the forefront of traffic management developments. This was confirmed with an article that was brought to our attention. This article (in Dutch) of author Joost van der Valk ('Roads' magazine, no. 9, October 1994) describes how Rijkswaterstaat applied traffic management in the region of Amsterdam.
Driving simulator with VR headset tested
On July 18th, 2016 In the office of Rijkswaterstaat in Rijswijk a driving simulator was. This simulator is developed for Rijkswaterstaat by the visualisation company XKP from Rotterdam. The company developed a special computer for this project and acquired Virtual Reality headset with a high resolution. The purpose of the driving simulator is to let human test subjects test traffic measures, new road signs or even new road designs of human factors aspects. The remarks made by the testers can lead to further improvement in the design of in other related aspects. More information on this project can be obtained by Aad van den Burg of Rijkswaterstaat.
Update report on traffic models
The state-of-the-art report "Traffic assignment and simulation models" was well received, both national and international. In the report an overview is given of the different types of models and the accompanying software tools that are applied in the Netherlands. After receiving comments from readers it was time review the contents of the report and this is done in version 2. The review consists of the adjustment of certain facts and the rewriting of some paragraphs to make it more readable.
